In-Year Admissions
From 1 September 2024. Shropshire Council will be coordinating and allocating all requests for places at our school.
We welcome prospective parents to visit our school. If you wish to apply for a place at our school, please complete the online application form via this link – Synergy – Homepage (shropshire.gov.uk)
Your application will be processed by the School Admissions Team at Shropshire Council in accordance with our school’s oversubscription criteria. You will then be notified via letter of the outcome of your application.
Applying for a School Place
Children can start school in reception at the beginning of the academic year following their fourth birthday. Therefore, children born between 1 September 2021 and 31 August 2022 can start primary school from September 2026.
Shropshire residents should make their applications for English state schools using the Shropshire online portal. Local authorities co-ordinate applications. Use our guidance notes to help you make your application. If you have any queries or encounter any difficulties completing your application, please contact the School Admissions Team by email: school-admissions@shropshire.gov.uk
Please note that the online facility is open from 3 November 2025. You must apply by 15 January 2026. If there’s a reason why your application is late, eg due to a house move, please email school-admissions@shropshire.gov.uk to advise – there may be exceptional reasons to be considered.
Applications received after 15 January, without exceptional reasons, are considered late. Late applications won’t be processed until all the applications received on time have been allocated. This may result in your child not being offered a school place at you preferred school.
- Shropshire Local Authority residents should use the Shropshire online portal to make their application for any English state infant or primary school. If the school you wish to apply to isn’t there, please email school-admissions@shropshire.gov.uk with the name of the school, and we’ll get it added
- If you wish to apply for a neighbouring Welsh authority primary school, you should apply directly to that authority
- If you want to apply for a Shropshire school but live in another English authority area, please apply to the authority in which you live. Telford local authority residents must apply via Telford and Wrekin Council not Shropshire Council
- Applicants from overseas, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland can use the Shropshire Council website to make an application for a Shropshire school
- If an application is made through this portal from a resident in another English authority other than Shropshire it will be discarded
- If you’re moving to Shropshire from another English local authority and want to apply for a Shropshire school, unless you’ve exchanged contracts on a house purchase or signed a rental agreement your application will have to be submitted to the authority in which you currently live
- Take a look at the contact details for neighbouring local authorities or visit the Gov.UK website for details on other local authorities

- Ensure that you read the Parent’s Guide to Education in Shropshire. This guide provides all the correct information to help you make your application
- Check you’re in the catchment area for your preferred schools. You can view catchment area maps to check
- Is the school you’re applying to an oversubscribed school and do you understand the admission arrangements for your preferred school(s)? Are you aware of the infant class size restrictions? You can view how school places were allocated in previous years
- How will your child get to school – will they be entitled to free transport?
- If you’re naming schools outside Shropshire on your Shropshire application, you’ll need to contact the appropriate local authority for the information on school admission arrangements in their area
- Note the importance of naming more than one school on your application, particularly when not applying for your catchment area school

The National Offer Day for junior schools is 16 April 2024. You will be able to log back into your account to view the outcome of your application. You will also receive an email.

Admission Policy
Changing your child’s school
From September 2013 the regulations changed for mid-term or “in-year” applications and local authorities no longer have to co-ordinate applications.
To change your child’s school to a Shropshire school you should complete the midterm/in year application form and send it to your preferred school.
There are guidance notes to help completing the form.
If the school is not in Shropshire, contact the relevant local authority to see how you should apply to their schools. You will find contact details on the direct.gov website.
The decision to move your child from one school to another should never be taken lightly. A settled placement throughout both primary and secondary school is important. If your child is having difficulties, or you are considering a transfer for other reasons, please discuss issues with your child’s headteacher before making a decision.
School Admissions
Your child is entitled to start school in the academic year in which they turn 5 years old. The academic year runs from September 1st to 31st August inclusive.
Empower Trust, of which the school is part, is its own admissions authority which is operated by Shropshire Council as the Local Authority (LA) on behalf of the school. Full details of this, together with information about the arrangements for admissions, are set out on the Shropshire website link below.

Letters will come directly from the Local Authority to your home alerting you about the need to apply for a school place, usually in the autumn term in the school year that your child becomes four.
Those children who are allocated a place at the school for their children to start in Reception are invited to a day and a half induction, which will follow the lines of a normal school day. Parents are invited to a New Entrants’ Evening before the school visit where staff discuss the school’s aims and routines with parents.
Admission in to the Nursery
Parents are able to put their child’s name on the waiting list as soon as they are two years old. There are free nursery places for 2 and 3 year olds, subject to eligibility. For further information please contact the main reception.
